FAITH
I had a donkey,
Took it to a show.
Would it trot when I asked?
Oh dear No!
Did the little perisher
Do it out of spite?
After all, it trotted
At *home* alright!
At Shows it went peculiar,
And wouldn't be led.
"What's wrong?" I hissed at it,
And it said:
"Pardon me! I thought
*You* thought I wouldn't!
Then I felt peculiar
And found that I *couldn't*!
Next time, if I have
*Your* faith and trust,
I will trot for you,
Until I bust!"
I took my donkey
To another Show,
Thinking and *believing*
It would go.
It went like a bomb!
Just as it should!
And why not, pray?-
When I *knew* that it would
Gone were the doubts,
And the moment of stress-
Would it trot past the Judge?
Yes, yes, YES!
Let all us Owners
Take a vow today
Not to cause our donkeys
To turn around and say
"Pardon me! I thought
*You* thought I wouldn't!
Then I felt peculiar
And found that I *couldn't*!"
